Reshaping Texas Spirits Industry - New Texas Spirit Industry Legislation
Updated: Sep 18, 2023
In an exciting development for the Texas Spirit Industry, a landmark agreement has been reached. The Texas Package Stores Association (TPSA), Beer Alliance of Texas (BAT), Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of Texas (WSWT), and Texas Distilled Spirits Association (TDSA) have joined forces to enact new legislation, SB 2284. This allows Texas distillers to double the number of bottles they can sell at their distilleries, up to four 750 ml bottles per customer in a 30-day period. However, there's more to this story. These organizations have also agreed to oppose the expansion of direct-to-consumer shipping of alcohol in future legislative sessions. This decision aims to prevent underage access to alcoholic beverages, safeguard the integrity of the Texas three-tier alcohol system, and promote a competitive marketplace. It's a testament to their commitment to both industry growth and public safety. Cheers to the new Texas Spirit Industry Legislation!
